The Accounting & Finance Manager is the key accounting, financial and operations reporting authority. Together with the President, ensures the overall accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of the financial information for financial reporting and fiscal responsibility while also ensuring day to day operations run smoothly and effectively to properly service our customers.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Directs an effective and efficient operational and general ledger month-end close process and preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements.
  • Ensures financial results are fairly stated in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory requirements.
  • Establishes strong relationships with inter-departmental co-workers and serves as the accounting and financial reporting resource.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with parent company for all matters involving financial accounting and reporting.
  • Creates and implements strong internal controls around accounting, financial, operational and business processes that protect the company's assets and profits.
  • Oversees Commissions Payable and all other general and administrative expenses.
  • Coordinates with internal auditors for all audit requirements and implements process improvement directives.
  • Works closely with Operations to ensure proper recordkeeping of inventory and cost of goods sold. Ensures adequate controls are established and followed to manage the Company's inventories including valuations, obsolescense and costing.
  • Works closely with the Controller and Operations Manager to ensure proper revenue and cost of goods sold recognition as well as timely collection of accounts receivable.
  • Supports the process of budget and forecast preparation and analysis including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow.
  • Ensures the Company's financial obligations (vendor payments) are paid timely and adequate controls are in place to support proper payment.  Approves check runs.
  • Manages operating capital and communicates regularly with the parent company, including fund transfer requests, to ensure adequate cash to meet the company’s obligations.
  • Maintains current knowledge for organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.  CPA certification is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.
  • High level of computer skills including email applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and other business reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of finance, budgeting, cost control, and accounting principles including Generally Accepted and International Accounting Principles.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems/business enterprise systems, preferably Sage 300.
