POSITION:  Application Engineer (Robotics Specialty)


JOB DUTIES: Effectively and creatively apply technology and products that Gibson Engineering represents to solve or help troubleshooting problems as presented. Perform technical feasibility and proof of concept work as required to establish confidence or rule out suggested solutions. Help sales engineers identify all requirements to generate quotations or estimates for specific products or multi-discipline solutions while working regularly with manufacturers support resources as necessary. Configure, program, test, and debug various automation equipment and systems, with a focus on robotics. Support production projects, including concept development, design, programming, testing, debugging, or commissioning. Develop customer-centric digital content such as how-to documents or videos to showcase product capabilities. Majority of aforementioned efforts pertain to robotics technology but also include other closely related engineering technologies. This position requires 15-20% domestic travel. Teleworking is permitted within a reasonable commuting distance of the Norwood, MA office.


HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday

Main Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Engineering, or a closely related field of study and two (2) years of experience as an Application Engineer or closely related occupation.


Special Skills: Requires (2) years of experience in the following:


  • Utilize common test tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes for testing and debugging electrical equipment;
  • Experience with ROS (robotic operating system);
  • Experience with common programming language including Java, Python, C++;
  • Basic level of mechanical aptitude such as mechanical design skills and CAD experience; and
  • Understanding and experience of electrical hardware design such as PCB design and manufacturing.
