Olympus Controls (olympus-controls.com) is a fast-paced Automation Company that has an opportunity for a Business Development Specialist (BDS) to join our growing company. The BDS will identify and reach out to prospective clients to cultivate new, high-value accounts and large opportunities. The BDS is the tip of the spear for new sales opportunities and will fill the sales funnel for the sales team. The BDS will also work with the sales and apps team to generate marketing material to be used in these outreaches and networking events. 

 

 

The ideal candidate is outgoing, familiar with industrial automation, and adept at marketing and communication. They will need to be very proactive as the primary goal is to investigate and engage accounts and contacts not familiar with our offerings or technology.

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Contact and qualify preferred supplier leads day they are received
  • When generating own leads, identify contacts and accounts that align with our product line 
  • Use readily available tools to obtain contact information, i.e., Zoom Info, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Engage contacts and accounts in a way that fosters a relationship 
  • Utilize the CRM system to record customer contact information, communicate, and track sales process
  • Assign actionable opportunities to applicable Sales Engineer
  • Continuously follow-up with older leads 
  • Communicate with Sales Engineers and Applications Engineers, providing feedback and information to further the sales process and support for the clients
  • Assist with marketing efforts including open houses, workshops, and tradeshows
  • Work with Inside Sales when needed to solve client issues and create quotes
  • Provide sales support as requested
  • Complete supplier trainings to obtain valuable & applicable product knowledge
  • Anticipate 20+ outbound calls per day, focusing on quality engagement over quantity
  • Organic lead generation goal 100 per year
  • Follow-up with customers to confirm attendance to trainings, workshops, or other events

 

 

Qualifications/Experience: 

  • Technical training and technical aptitude preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • PC proficient
  • Customer service or sales experience preferred
  • Minimal overnight travel required (~10 days per year) 
  • Highschool degree or equivalent required
