The Buyer has the primary responsibility of ensuring material availability to support the production schedule. The Buyer is also responsible for procuring material at the best combination of cost, quality, and availability.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Initiate purchase orders and revisions for parts and services
  • Coordinate closely with the Engineered Solutions team to ensure timely execution of product and services sourcing activities and communicate all relevant information regarding changes in material, pricing, lead times and other related supply chain situations
  • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of potential problems
  • Coordinate material flows through product/bill of materials (BOM) changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development
  • Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options
  • Secure and analyze supplier quotations, negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and availability/schedule
  • Determine and establish optimum inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation and material lead times
  • Provide backup support for other supply chain functions including shipping, receiving, material handling and other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, related field and/or relevant experience in a Buyer or Supply Chain role
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; advanced skills with Microsoft Excel
  • Strong sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Excellent organization, written/verbal communication, and follow-up skills
  • Able to influence others and manage conflict
  • Ability to self-direct and take constructive action in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to move/transport material up to 30lbs
