The Director of Operations reports directly to the President and is responsible for successful delivery of all value-add automation products that move through production at our Tualatin, Oregon headquarters location. We excel with high-mix, low-volume manufacturing and are experiencing substantial year-over-year growth. Examples of our value-add products include cable harnesses, motors/gearbox assemblies, electrical enclosures, precision assemblies, and custom, automated work cells that utilize a wide range of automation technologies.

 

This position calls for a technically minded, well-organized, motivated, and process-oriented person, who enjoys delivering outstanding operational results while working with interesting technology and great people. It requires enthusiasm, grit, creativity, flexibility, resiliency, excellent oral and written communication skills, and a professional and courteous personality.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of five direct reports that include the Operations Manager, Production Manager, Quality Manager, Project Manager, and Manufacturing Engineer and their respective teams
  • Promote regular, respectful communication and highly productive working relationships between your teams and with the greater organization to ensure successful project outcomes  
  • Continually drive for and achieve operational excellence in a high-growth manufacturing environment by identifying and facilitating continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and inefficiencies while improving quality and safety 
  • Establish lasting, genuine partnerships with our fast-paced, world-class, technically savvy clients
  • Assist with business development activities such as facility tours for potential and existing customers
  • Develop and maintain appropriate forecasting tools to ensure resources are in place when needed
  • Work with vendors as needed to address facility maintenance, modification, or expansion 
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicator (KPIs), development action plans, and performance goals for your team to ensure that company objectives are achieved
  • Act as a champion for change, uphold company values, and operate with a high level of integrity
  • Manage the capital budget for the Operations team, setting expenditure priorities and making effective business decisions 
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to support cost/schedule estimates for new opportunities 
  • Assist with the hiring process and resolve escalated human resources issues within your team

 

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering, business, or similar discipline is required; Master’s degree a plus
  • 8+ years of relevant manufacturing/operational leadership experience preferred
  • Competence with ERP systems is required; SysPro is a plus
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings required
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Office experience required
  • Travel may be required on occasion
