We currently have an opportunity for a Production Technician I to join our growing company. This is an intermediate position that will keep you busy producing electromechanical subassemblies and small systems using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications. Candidates who show initiative, help improve our processes, and meet schedules will have opportunities to advance.

 

This job requires excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and a professional and courteous personality. The preferred candidate will have an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, thrive on cross-functional teams, and demonstrate a knowledge of IPC 620 principles and an aptitude for working with more complex electromechanical assemblies and systems. The Production Technician I may serve as lead for a small team of technicians for specific projects.

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble electromechanical equipment and products
  • Proficiently utilize a variety of hand tools such as wrenches, terminal crimpers, screw drivers, wire cutters, drills, and torque tools
  • Consistently meet IPC 620 assembly workmanship standards for cable and electrical assemblies, including, but not limited to, soldering, crimping, splicing, etc.
  • Layout, route, and terminate wires for UL 508A electrical panels
  • Perform system cold checks and basic troubleshooting according to wiring or line diagram using a voltmeter or CableEye machine 
  • Perform mechanical quality checks to ensure the product meets quality standards
  • Upload component firmware according to written instructions 
  • Clearly document any approved as-built changes/maintain redlines
  • Clearly communicate task status to leads, be able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, and be able to switch projects midstream, as needed
  • Maintain accurate accounting of components during assembly while maintaining order, safety, and cleanliness
  • Identify product defects and complete appropriate documentation when defects are identified
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products as instructed
  • Participate in the development of work instructions
  • Perform all work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures
  • Participate or take a minor leadership role in continuous improvement and 5S activities and audits as assigned
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned
    • This may include, but is not limited to, product packaging, kitting materials, warehouse cleanup activities, etc.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks and sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately

 


Qualifications/Experience:

 

  • IPC 620 knowledge or training is highly preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail with an ability to perform work accurately and efficiently
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, and a team player spirit
  • Maintain Olympus Controls’ values, ethics, and commitment to quality 
  • Basic reading skills; must be able to follow written and verbal directions
  • Basic computer navigation and utilization skills, primarily Microsoft Office
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Technical school and/or 2-4 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment preferred (motion control system experience is a plus)
