The Project Manager’s role is to manage several of our more complex automation projects simultaneously while working with their internal and external project teams. Excellent leadership, oral and written communication skills and technical skills are required. Scheduling, budgeting, and maintaining scope are a must.  

 

This position calls for a well-organized, self-motivated person, who enjoys a variety of concurrent assignments while working with technology and people. It requires enthusiasm, grit, creativity, flexibility, resiliency, and a professional and courteous personality.

 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Ability to interface with fast-paced, world-class, technically savvy clients
  • Effectively lead engineering teams and coordinate with production technician teams to deliver cutting-edge automation solutions including vision, motion, and robotics
  • Ability to stay well-organized and manage scope, schedule, and budget for multiple projects concurrently
  • Develop and coordinate engineering resource requirements with Design Engineering Manager
  • Develop and communicate technician resource requirements to Production Manager and Director Operations
  • Track time and material expenditures to perform comprehensive financial postmortems
  • Maintain clear records of out-of-scope costs and coordinate with Sales Engineer regarding recapture of costs
  • Responsible for internal communication regarding project and quote status
  • Lead weekly customer-facing cadence calls
  • Maintain and improve existing project workflow from conception to delivery
  • Produce and deliver weekly project status reports to upper management and customers
  • Identify gating materials and coordinate with engineering and buyer groups to identify alternatives and mitigate schedule risks
  • Coordinate with the Quality Department to guide the disposition of non-conforming project materials
  • Schedule escalation meetings with vendors, suppliers, and customers as needed
  • Assist in the development and review of quotes
  • Establish and maintain enjoyable, functional, and highly productive relationships
  • Possess an innate sense of urgency and ownership of project success
  • Demonstrate excellent skills related to decision making, prioritizing, problem solving, communication, and leadership
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications/Experience:

 

  • BS in engineering or another technical field highly preferred
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required
  • 5+ years of relevant project management experience preferred or a commensurate combination of experience in a related automation/project support role
  • Understanding of PMBOK is desired
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Office experience is a must
  • Experience with Wrike is a plus
  • Experience in PDM, ERP (i.e. Syspro), CAD (i.e. SolidWorks) software systems is a plus
  • Experience reading mechanical, electrical drawings is a plus
  • Understanding principles of software code is a plus
  • Possess an understanding of automation technology or a desire to learn
