We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening for a qualified and motivated individual to fill the position of Product Manager – Fluid Power & Hydraulics. The location is flexible for any metropolitan area applied operates in: Greater Vancouver Area (Delta), Calgary, Edmonton/Nisku, Greater Toronto Area (Downsview), Montreal, Quebec City and is also a remote work opportunity.
The Position:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager – Procurement & Product Management, the Product Manager role has an immediate impact on both our customers and on our Service Center performance. This individual will be responsible for researching, assisting and analyzing our Hydraulic, Fluid Power/Conveyance and Pneumatic offering, assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to optimize profit and meet corporate growth objectives, while supporting field personnel in their sales of product categories.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in overall product strategy and development requirements to grow sales
- Drive the planning, negotiation and evaluation of new products, vendor agreements/programs and services
- Recommend and support sales strategies for present and future product lines, including detailed product specifications and requirements.
- Manage marketing, communication and sales programs with key vendors and suppliers
- Facilitates inventory turnover, reductions, and product availability while working with the Asset Management Team to adjust inventory levels at DC’s and SC’s
- Preferred Vendor Buy Program strategy and Utilization in Conjunction with procurement team
- Support and drive initiatives through collaboration with the other Applied Channels; OEM, Distribution, Shop and Field Services, and Strategic Accounts
- Pricing Recommendations and Collaboration with sales teams and pricing team
- Influences product pricing by utilizing market research, Strategic Account data, and SC participation. From this data anticipate volume, and facilitate costing special and customized orders
- Provides short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and analyses.
- Establish single point of contact with key vendors and work with procurement team to nationalize pricing for all Applied Canada DC’s and SC’s
- Ability to travel within Canada & US (upwards to 25% based on location)
Education and Experience:
- 5 – 10 years of Hydraulic, Fluid Power/Conveyance and Pneumatic experience, or product management experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, sales, marketing related fields or any equivalent related technical degree
- Proven track record of driving visibility and accountability for training within an organization.
- Demonstrated success in product management with the ability manage the complete portfolio and ability to facilitate new initiatives from start to finish
Specific Skills:
- Sales and marketing experience, utilizing social media platforms such as LinkedIn
- Proven negotiation and presentation skills
- Demonstrated decision making and leadership abilities
- Ability to influence others in a positive manner across multiple channels and business units
- Prominent analytical and problem-solving capability
- Ability to translate strategic vision into tactical action, identify the highest impact ideas and plans and focus efforts by resource allocation.
- High level of personal accountability coupled with the ability to work independently.
- Prioritization and organizational skills with the attention to detail required for managing multiple priorities, deadlines, and key deliverables at the same time
- Strong skills with MS Office products (excel, powerpoint) and virtual training delivery (via Teams)
Other Assets Include:
- Bilingualism is an asset (English & French) although not a requirement
- Industry Trade or Board level experience is and asset, although not a requirement
Working Conditions:
- Position has opportunity to be based in an AIT Canada location (above). Physical location must be in QC, ON, MB, SK, AB or BC with proximity within 50km of one of our AIT Canada locations.
- Approximatelty 25% travel within Canada required (may vary dependent on base of operations)
