Sales Assistant

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Process customer orders as provided by Inside Sales; send order acknowledgements ensuring accuracy of information
  • Work closely with Purchasing and Inside Sales, expediting open Purchase Orders with multiple suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with customers & suppliers to facilitate future selling opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively and participate positively with the Inside Sales team and Purchasing Department
  • Review open purchase order reports; take action on open items, specifically, those items at risk in meeting the customer’s promised delivery date.  Maintain associated customer expediting report/notices and customer notification as coordinated with Inside Sales
  • Increase product knowledge and application expertise by attending on-going training seminars and/or reading manuals, specification sheets, trade magazines, etc.
  • Immediately report all customer issues to Division Operations Manager and Inside Salesperson to determine course of action.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities/tasks as directed by management.

 

Preferred Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required;  Associate Degree strongly preferred with a concentration in  Business, Operations Management  or related field  strongly desired.
  • Minimum 1-3 + years’ experience in a similar role required
  • Prior experience with an Industrial Distributor in the chemical, food & beverage, plastics or other manufacturing field supporting multiple salespeople strongly desired.
  • Basic knowledge of valves, actuation, pumps and process instrumentation desired but not required.
  • Previous experience with Quoting/Order Expediting highly desired.
  • Proven ability to provide maximum operational efficiency.
