CAD Technician

This is a TSI Services classification, involving a variety of design/drafting activities group including preparing/updating installation and as built drawings for projects, preparing assembly/manufacturing drawings, establishing guidelines and procedures for CAD data management, and managing workload distribution within the service department. Other duties to be performed as assigned.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work directly with our customers to understand their processes and develop the best solutions for their requirements.  
  • Work with our sales and project management teams to professionally represent the company, gather data, and ask the right questions to define a project. 
  • Prepare dimensional drawings, installation drawings and more complex drawings..
  • Revise and update existing drawings reflecting design changes.
  • Review blueprints, plans, specifications and other customer documentation.
  • Serve as an information source on planning and design of heat trace equipment installations
  • Maintain notes, design calculations and other documentation (like drawings, bill of materials, list

        of design parameters) for future reference.

  • Establish filing guidelines for drawings to maintain up-to-date drawings

     

    Basic Qualifications:

     

  • Associate's degree or completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting or related field, plus at least one years of related work experience: or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Experience using Autocad 2D design software (required).
  • Experience in equipment layout for municipal and/or industrial construction projects. (required).
  • Experience in equipment/plant layout relating to wastewater treatment facilities. (preferred).
  • Candidates must be proficient with the usage of MS-Office. 
  • Familiarity with control systems, electrical power systems.
  • Strong Communication and Technical Writing Skills.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

     

  • Strong interpersonal skills – successful candidates will communicate effectively, possess strong writing skills, etc. 
  • Highly organized, excellent problem solver, strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Minimum of two (2) years generating 2D cad drawings using AuotCad Lt, MS Visio and Bluebeam revu.
