Business Intelligence Analyst

The Business Intelligence Analyst/Report Writer plans, designs and recommends business processes, dashboard, and reporting solutions to improve and support business and IT functions. An ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of business content, procedures, and processes as well as business intelligence systems. This position works directly with clients and leadership at various levels within the organization.

 

The scope of responsibilities include requirements gathering, system analysis, data analysis, data mapping, functional design, and development of dashboards and reports as well as discovering data anomalies and recommending/implementing data quality improvements. They will communicate limitations or challenges with existing or proposed requirements/processes and ensure the overall accuracy and usability of the business intelligence platform. They are responsible for identifying process and system enhancements to present actionable information to the business and enable better business decisions while meeting targets for on time, on budget project delivery.

 

Key responsibilities:

 

  • Design, lead, and participate in all business intelligence activities
  • Develop reports, dashboards, data repositories and warehouses to present timely information to user communities
  • Troubleshoot business problems and high level systems issues on a daily basis working with functional and technical resources
  • Support ERP and other applications and systems, analyzing users’ information system requirements and departmental information flows
  • Provide input and make recommendations to project leads to improve the quality and assurance of the solutions being delivered
  • Support projects to ensure successful realization of the project goals
  • Become deeply immersed and knowledgeable about core business functions, processes and workflows and their related technologies
  • Reporting status to stakeholders & project teams

    Requirements:

     

  • 2+ years proven experience in a Business Intelligence environment, including design, development, and technical documentation of functionality
  • Understanding of reporting tools such as Business Objects suite of products (Web Intelligence, Dashboards-Xcelsius or Design Studio) or similar BI tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SQL query writing, especially on the Microsoft SQL Server platform
  • Proven critical thinking and analytical and problem solving ability, time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects, activities and tasks under time constraints
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including English grammar with the ability to effectively interface with staff and communicate across all levels of the organization
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, or related field OR equivalent experience
  • High energy level, adaptive and a strong team player with a good work ethic.

 

Preferred:

 

  • Experience with Epicor Prophet21 ERP system
  • Experience with Source/Revision Control systems (TFS, git, etc.)
  • Experience with process mapping and object modeling with BPMN and UML
  • Exposure to Microsoft SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS
