Pricing Manager

This individual will oversee the development of market-based pricing; develop pricing strategies as well as short and long-range plans for pricing that are consistent with corporate objectives. This individual will leverage experience in development of global pricing strategies and implementation of pricing processes. 

This individual will be a skilled communicator, effective in promoting the value of the organizational and process changes within the pricing function.  Change management and communication skills will be critical to facilitate the fundamental changes necessary for the pricing transformation to occur successfully.

 

Responsibilities

Working under the supervision of the Vice President of Sales Operations, and in conjunction with the Sales, Customer Service and Operations organization, the primary responsibilities of the Pricing Manager will be to:

  • Work with the Corporate Leadership Team (“CLT”), to evaluate and set FCX’s pricing strategy, including:
    • Establishing base prices for the entire product suite
    • Setting strategies for all elements of pricing, particularly focused on elements from quote price, to booked price, to invoiced price
    • Determining additional pricing strategies at the customer, market segment, product, region or application level
  • Develop, implement, manage and maintain the appropriate infrastructure required to effectively execute and monitor the pricing strategy, including:
    • Working with the IT department, run the selection, implementation and operation of pricing-specific technology as appropriate 
    • Developing and documenting internal processes for price setting, price implementation and ongoing execution
    • Establish appropriate protocols and authorization rights throughout the organization
  • Manage all core pricing analysis and drive to relevant pricing recommendations
  • Work with Sales and Operations to set, implement and monitor the pricing policy
  • Develop best practices, policies, guidelines and a governance relative to pricing
  • Develop external networks with functional experts and academia to stay on top of latest and best in class pricing practices
  • Develop a sound understanding of market dynamics, including developing a program for the collection and analysis of competitive pricing
  • Provide advice and analytical support
  • Conduct ongoing reviews and post-analysis of the effectiveness of all pricing actions and strategies, reporting on results and making recommendation to the Sales Operations and the CLT
  • Work with the Regional Sales, Operations and Finance staff to support local customization
  • Provide support for the annual budgeting/planning cycle as it relates to the impact of pricing strategies and policies
  • Manage global pricing communications strategies
  • Provides ad-hoc support, analysis and leadership for special projects and pricing improvement initiatives
  • Trains and coaches team members and develops succession plans
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred

 

Experience & Skill Sets:

  • 5+ years working in a leadership position in a business-to-business pricing manager, sales, or operational leadership role with heavy focus on pricing implementation
  • Demonstrated command of modern business-to-business pricing theory and techniques, including
    • List and target price setting strategies
    • Waterfall analysis
    • Outlier analysis
    • Value mapping
    • Elasticity calculations
    • Promotional/baseline analytics
  • Ability to work across and within cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional numerical and analytical skills with strong modeling experience, and attention to detail
  • The ability to effectively handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to present factual data in a concise and organized manner
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Access), ERP experience including Profit 21 a plus
