Job Summary:

Reviews demand requirements, nets on hand inventory and places purchase orders with assigned and selected suppliers.  Evaluates drawings and consults with engineering to identify electrical/mechanical component requirements.  Sources, qualifies and selects suppliers.  Monitors supplier performance.  Communicates with and coordinates the activities of suppliers and internal resources to resolve supplier related issues.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact suppliers, obtain quotes, negotiate pricing and place purchase orders based on MRP reports.
  • Place purchase orders via TOPS,EDI and SIS.
  • Establish and maintain vendor-pricing matrixes for both manufacturing and distribution.
  • Build professional supplier relationships.
  • Prioritize daily responsibilities to meet demands internally and of customers.
  • Process all vendor discrepancies for both manufacturing and distribution.
  • Generates and maintains a list of qualified vendors.
  • Works closely with Sales and Engineering to ensure proper pricing loaded on BOMS for RFQ system.
  • Assign new part numbers.
  • Expedite quotes for Engineering.
  • Coordinate all products to be moved from Distribution (P21) to Manufacturing (M2M).
  • Resolve all assigned vendor invoice discrepancies

 

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain supplier pricing matrixes.
  • Prioritize daily responsibilities to meet internally and external customer demands.
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure accurate BOM and drawing information.
  • Resolve invoice and supplier shipment discrepancies, and handle the return of discrepant, non-conforming, or excess materials.
  • Minimize the risk of exposure to excess and obsolete inventory.

 

Qualifications:

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 years as a Buyer in a Make–to–Order Design and Manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with a modern ERP computer-based purchase order processing system.
  • High school diploma or GED required. AA Degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
