Staff Accountant

We are seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to join the Spencer Fluid Power Group, an Applied Industrial Technologies company. This is an integral position in the finance department and will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and timely financial records for the organization. This position offers internal growth potential as well as professional development.
 

Responsibilities:

•    Manage the full cycle accounting including prepare and post all journal entries, month-end close and financial reporting for multi-company department and assure all corporate deadlines are met
•    Bank reconciliations for deposit and disbursement accounts
•    Prepare Monthly sales tax returns and manage sales tax external audits
•    Prepare inter-company transaction reconciliations
•    Prepare sales commission detail documentation for payments
•    Prepare monthly recurring journal entry posting and reconcile key balance sheet accounts for accuracy and validity
•    Post and maintain vendor rebates and vendor credit reviews of asset rebates
•    Provide information for corporate internal and external audits as required
•    Work with Branch Management to ensure accuracy and timeliness of month-end information
•    Daily review of subledger to G/L system balancing reports
•    Maintain fixed asset records and yearly physical audit of assets
•    Job costing analysis
 

Requirements:
•    2+ yrs Accounting experience
•    Computer skills including Excel to include pivot tables & macros
•    ERP experience preferred
•    Problem solving, results oriented.
•    Analytical skills demonstrating consistent logic, rationality and objectivity in decision making.
•    BA degree with Accounting emphasis
•    Distribution or retail experience preferred 
•    SOX compliance and/or audit experience a plus 
•    Multi-state sales tax experience a plus
