A Fluid Power Technical Support Representative at Applied Industrial Technologies combines their industry experiences, Fluid power knowledge, collaboration abilities and basic customer management skills to offer technical solutions and general sourcing assistance to Applied’s US service center personnel. They spend the majority of their time providing product and system technical support, building relationships with our US Service Center teams and assisting their business growth efforts via phone and email correspondence. This key role has a direct impact on our customer’s and Applied Industrial Technologies’ business results.
 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consult with Applied’s Fluid Power Specialists, the network of Applied Industrial Technologies’ companies, internal department associates and supplier representatives to present fluid power solutions to both internal sales associates and their customers in order to drive new business.
  • Provide the following services to internal customers: competitive interchanges, obsolescence replacement, dataset processing, product recommendations based on application needs, support of the Fluid Power Specialist functions, quote products and systems, arrange shop conversions, support shop build program initiatives and remotely troubleshoot customer applications.
  • Provide technical assistance and presale support to Applied’s Fluid Power Specialists, Applied’s US Service Centers and external customers by answering inquiries, recommending new products and technologies, assisting with product selection, and interpreting product information.
  • Act as a local, technical fluid power expert in an assigned Applied Service Center including facilitating technical supplier interactions with internal sales teams and customers.
  • Assist in development of the fluid power collaborative knowledge base including applications, interchanges, case histories, Documented Value Added activities, market activities and competitor activities.
     

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 3+ years fluid power experience including practical applications (hydraulic and/or pneumatic)
  • HS Diploma or Equivalent required; Technical Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree or extensive fluid power application experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a desire and passion to learn; International Fluid Power Society (IFPS) Certification preferred
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and system schematics
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical thoughts and solutions to multiple levels
  • Familiar with MS Office including remote collaboration tools (eg. video conferencing)
  • Ability to effectively work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven problem solving skills, ability to multi-task, time management skills, sense of urgency and a bias for action
