Continuous Improvement Leader

The Continuous Improvement Leader is a key member of the Operational Excellence group, responsible to lead and execute projects to optimize and align associate and operational processes with what Customers and Stakeholders value.

 

This is accomplished by developing strong cross-functional relationships, rooting out and identifying improvement opportunities using data, analysis and observation, establishing lean principles in core operating processes, and empowering Applied associates through excellent change management.

 

This role will be responsible to align key continuous improvement projects with annual Operational Excellence strategic goals, collect resources to execute, and sell organizational leadership on the importance of the project and the outcomes.

 

The Continuous Improvement Leader will also be expected to teach others on lean basics such as waste observation, complexity reduction, root cause analysis/5 why’s, and housekeeping. 

 

JOB DUTIES

 

  • Lead process improvement analysis and standardization across the organization
  • Develop site or regional experts that can support a continuous improvement culture and ongoing deployment of Lean processes
  • Lead and/or directly influence cross-business strategic initiatives, projects, improvement opportunities and similar high impact projects
    • Manages projects / analytical resources as assigned
    • Ensures that resources are aligned with project goals
  • Implements some measurement of results and daily/weekly/monthly cadence so that everyone knows whether or not the team is winning
  • Analyze transactional data and business results to highlight improvement opportunities, and then utilize appropriate tools to drill down to root cause
  • Drive site and regional leaders to achieve optimum results and consistency in each location
  • Understand key metrics that measure performance, create scorecards, and monitor metric performance over time
  • Effectively communicate with senior management about project progress and results

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 3-5 years continuous improvement, data analysis and/or project management experience
  • Detailed experience in field operations at an industrial distribution business preferred
  • Excellent analytic and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; functions well independently, and as a team member
  • Deep commitment to continuous improvement
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability and willingness to take on new responsibilities, meet deadlines and produce quality results
