The Legal Department of Applied Industrial Technologies (NYSE: AIT), an industrial distributor with a market cap exceeding $5 billion, seeks a midlevel corporate paralegal who thrives in a high-performing and collaborative environment to join its team. The position is located at Applied’s corporate headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio.
Essential Duties and Job Functions

- Work closely with Applied’s commercial contract attorneys to maintain Applied’s ability to actively enter into governmental contracts, including providing primary support for ongoing SAM.gov registration for Applied and its subsidiaries.
- Support Applied’s management of bankruptcy claims.
- Oversee the Legal Department’s legal filing system, as well as intake and coordination of outside law firms.
- Prepare miscellaneous agreements and amendments for signing and filing.
- Develop Legal Department templates.
- Pursue unclaimed funds recoveries.
- Coordinate organizational matters and signing authorizations for Applied’s subsidiaries.
- Work closely with other members of the Legal Department and the management team to support and contribute to other projects as needed.

- Appropriately triage a heavy workflow, setting appropriate priorities with clients and delivering results efficiently and timely, meeting deadlines.

- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
- Familiarity with, and drive to optimize, the use of law department technology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Education and Experience

- 3+ years’ experience in a law firm and/or in-house.
- College degree preferred.
- Experience preferred with:
- Government contract matters
- Public company matters
- Experience working in a fast-paced, fluid, and collegial culture.
- Ability to work with a wide range of business clients by recognizing and responding quickly and pragmatically to urgent situations and demanding clients.
- Exceptional and demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
