Safety Specialist

Safety Specialist duties include:

  • Ensure implementation of Applied Industrial Technologies, Inc. (AIT) Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, MSHA, and DOT)
  • Provide comprehensive technical safety support to leaders and associates
  • Align to and drive Applied’s Key, Strategic, and Tactical performance indicators
  • “Walk-the-Talk” - Demonstrate passionate leadership and commitment through defined activities and monitor for adherence to Applied’s Safety initiatives
  • Actively champion safe behaviors, individual accountability, and continuous improvement to protect the health and safety of associates, customers and  members of the public
  • Ensure “rituals” are established and implemented that promote the desired safety outcomes.  Examples include weekly safety walkabouts, open corrective action item reviews, daily incident reviews, starting meetings and calls with safety topics, and Life Critical Procedure audits
  • Travel 50% - 60% to Company locations and customers’ worksites to

conduct field audits and inspections

  • Manage the ISN, PEC, and other third party clearing house accounts to ensure Applied is in good standing with customers
  • Active involvement in the Company’s continuous improvement of processes directed toward reducing costs, improving cycle time, increasing sales / gross profit and customer satisfaction
  • Any other duties as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of Environmental Health and Safety work experience
  • Working knowledge of DOT, MSHA, and OSHA standards 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related experience 
  • Experience working with 3rd party contractor clearing houses such as Avetta, ISN, and PEC  
  • Oil & Gas or chemical industry experience is preferred 
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail is a must
